SMS Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm, H.G. Wells style, part I

Below is a model of the SMS Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm, pre-dreadnought of the Branderburg Class, as modified in 1904-05 to become airborne. To do so, the Imperial Dockyards in Wilhelmshaven incorporated cavorite alloys inside her hull to make her partially ignore gravitation.

Mini Starships series #4

Some more little ships from my boardgame, of human origin this time. This is a battleship with a battlecruiser in front.

Mini Starships series #3

Another starship from my boardgame -with an accompanying destroyer.

Myasishchev M-85 transport part I

Below is a non-textured model of the Myasishchev M-85 trans-orbital VTOL transport.

Korolev shuttle part II

Here is the finished Korolev shuttle, with interior and miscellaneous payload.

Jian (arrow) thermospheric fighter part I

Below is the texture-less model of the Jian fighter, an aircraft able to fight in the upper reaches of the atmosphere.

Swan voidliner

Below is a simple hypersonic liner.

Ganymedian light cruiser part I

Below is a typical example of how fast the Ganymedian yards have caught up with their inner planet's counterparts. This vessel is intended as a fast commerce raider: what it cannot outgun it can outrun.

Mini Starships series #2

The second mini starship is a Scavenger's ship. Scavengers are a strange species that spend their time scouring through the ashes of extinct lifeforms. They possess very advanced technology : here they have contained a small black hole as means of propulsion for their ship.

Alien #2. Hammerhead.

This is another alien, but a bit more menacing this time.

Alien #1. Myrmycophage

A little alien study. The arms are folded under the belly, with the arms protruding behind the tail. Under the neck is an inflatable pouch used for vocalization and storing of young offspring, much like with Earth's toads. The 'spines' along the flexible nose are sometimes polished so that they are like mirrors, giving a 270 degrees field of view.

Mini Starships series #1

The Mini Starships series are little ships designed for a boardgame of mine. Since the ships are printed on a 2cm counter, they need little detail but lively flashy textures and easily read 'identity'. Bearing those constraints, the Mini Starships are simply modeled  and have a semi-generic texture quickly applied.

Below is the first design extracted from the boardgame: a little destroyer armed with two laser turrets with very good firing arcs. You easily spot (or not) the linear energy recuperators around the exhaust and the phased array panel detectors.

The polycount is kept very low, since I would definitely not frown on making a little videogame of it all, once the boardgame is out !

Parizhskaya Kommuna -part I

The Парижская коммуна (Parizhskaya Kommuna) battleship is one of the oldest ships displayed in the blog. It was the first battle torchship that was gas-giant and even Kuiper-belt capable -albeit at slow speed. Later reclassified as coastal battleship then monitor, it was with its sister-ship Октябрьской революции (October Revolution) a class of its own until the Chinese launched the similar Ting Yen class (the United States initially opting for smaller vessels).

Ant-Tank

A small transgression from the spaceship focus: the Ant-Tank.

This is an late era-I vehicle, commanded by a hybrid IA-human crew. Its design is peculiar because it is optimized for combat on regolith and low gravity environment -such as on the moon. The layout of its wheels ejects most of the moon dust to the side to avoid obscuring the optics and laser weapons.

Korolev shuttle part I

Here is the Korolev shuttle, designed to carry freight or passengers from the planetary surface to low orbit.

Survey Ship

Here is a medium-range inter-stellar survey ship. It is designed to conduct thorough surveys of planets and stellar systems: for this purpose, it has wings and poly-environment engines (let's assume rocket/ scramjet and fusion, but I will dwell more on it in another post).

Welcome to my blog.

Here it's all about starships and science fiction designs. Realism is my muse, not my master: I get inspired by real science/ engineering and its constraints, but I will not make starships that all look like needles, ice-cones or giant suppositories (I know some of you will get disappointed).

Don't worry though, some will look like giant suppositories (I felt a dismaying  sigh of relief among you).
